Guidance for the selection of FLT Operator Instructor/Examiner

Here at FT4U we are proud of our professionalism in applying a Duty of Care to the Industry through the delivery of our re-registration course.

Our accrediting body, the RTITB have laid down exacting criteria that we must follow when undertaking this work and we rightly adhere to their high standards

Instructors wishing to use our services will be buying into a culture of doing the job right.

The commitment the instructor and in some cases their employer make in taking on this important role comes with a large investment in both time and money that none of us want to see wasted.

It therefore follows that each delegate will need to reflect on what they expect to achieve while they are working with us and how they may best reach their goal.

It should be uppermost in everyone’s mind that this is a professional qualification and there will be an expectation that delegates conduct themselves in a manner that reflects this at all times.

A ten day course for experienced lift truck operators who wish to provide operator training for their employer (in-house), or on a commercial basis*.  A 12 day initial lift truck instructor course is also available for delegates who may have an appropriate level of experience but may not operate the machine type on a regular basis and require additional time to refresh operating skills.

*Registered Instructors are not authorised by RTITB to conduct training on a commercial basis as an RTITB training provider unless accreditation of their own or their employers training arrangements has been applied for and granted.

Successful completion of a 3 day re-registration course enables instructors to renew their registration onto the RTITB National Register of Instructor.  “The Professional Register” for a period of 5 years, at the same time they can refresh and update their instructional skills.

It is imperative and expected that any delegate attending a course with a minimum of three days duration, will have very high levels of instructional ability and they are regularly delivering operator courses to the RTITB Accredited standards.

Note: There is an extremely limited time on this course for any practical re-training or practice you really do need to be at the top of your game on this course.

FT4U always recommended those instructors that do not deliver operator courses to RTITB Accredited standards on a regular basis (Daily or weekly) should attend a course of a minimum of 5 days duration.

Re-registration delegates whose registration has expired for longer than 12 months but less than 5 years are to attend a course of a minimum of 5 days duration.

This course is ideal for those re-registration delegates whose registration has expired for less than 12 months. This course is aimed at delegates who require some additional time for practical re-training and practice to raise their ability and confidence ready to meet the high standards required to pass the RTITB Examination criteria.

This course is designed to provide an entry route to RTITB registration, it is for those experienced lift truck operator instructors, who have qualified by one of the following means: –

• Currently registered via one of the listed accrediting bodies, AITT, ITSSAR, NPORS
• Currently registered as an RTITB LGV Instructor
• Military/Fire Service with a suitable, current and appropriate material handling instructor qualification

The duration of the conversion course is variable (3 days or 5 days) depending upon the type and currency of qualifications held (see eligibility criteria).
